Houston Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” has found two new homes this season.
An annual staple of Houston’s holiday season the extravagant production was forced to relocate when its original venue, the Wortham Theater was stricken by Hurricane Harvey, causing the Wortham to close until mid-2018 for remediation and repairs.
The 34 performances scheduled for the Wortham have been spread out across two different venues for this season. The Nutcracker will start out December 10-23 at Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land, then move to Hobby Center for the Arts for a compressed schedule from December 30-January 6.
Tickets details are still in the works, but tickets for the Sugar Land performances can be purchased through Ticketmaster, and the Hobby Center performances are available through Houston Ballet’s box office.
