The drama continues to unfold for actor Tyrese Gibson. The Fast and the Furious star has been slapped with a temporary restraining order prohibiting him from having any direct or indirect contact with his ex-wife and their 10-year-old daughter.
Norma Gibson filed a police report alleging the actor and singer hired a plane to fly a banner over their daughter’s elementary school. Norma’s attorney, Aleen Laura Khanjian told TMZ, a fruit basket and a teddy bear addressed to their daughter Shayla, was delivered to the child’s school on Monday, from her dad. Then the actor allegedly hired a plane to carry a banner over the California school which read “No matter what, Daddy loves you Shayla.”
Tyrese is under investigation by the Department of Children and Family Services after Norma claimed the actor and singer spanked their daughter so hard she could not sit down. Khanjian believes the gesture is a form of witness intimidation since Shayla could be interviewed for the investigation.
Norma alleges Tyrese “beat” Shayla between 12 and 16 times, while Gibson says he only struck her once on her bottom. Along with her claim, Norma has requested full physical and legal custody and a permanent restraining order against the actor prohibiting him from physically disciplining their daughter. According to Norma, Tyrese has business ties in Dubai, and she is concerned he will take their daughter there and not come back.
Norma also filed documents claiming Tyrese has a long history of domestic abuse and that he has harmed both her and their daughter. She also alleges the actor was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and manic behavior.
Last month, Tyrese blasted his ex-wife after she made the abuse claims and was granted a restraining order against him.
In a statement, the actor dismissed Norma’s claims as jealousy toward his recent February 14th marriage from earlier this year. “Norma I know you can see this, I’m sorry I got re-married, I’m sorry we didn’t work out I’m sorry you haven’t been able to find another man since we separated,” he wrote. “Sometimes you get married and have kids and things just don’t work out, but I have NEVER wished harm on you. I was hoping by now you got over what we used to be… Being bitter, resentful and just felt (flat) out mean will (sic) has never been good for our daughter… But I see the attacks just won’t stop so I believe this too will pass and God and the courts will reveal the truth.”
